A Protected Forest

The approximate 75 acre forested park in the sloped area in the southwest corner of the Southlands will be completely protected, as will the more sparsely wooded area on the site’s eastern boundary, adjacent to Boundary Bay.

Both forested areas provide critical habitat for many species of wildlife and the preservation of this habitat on the Southlands will be a valuable asset for local wildlife populations due to its size and integrity.

Tree retention is important in urban areas for local plants and animals. Planting trees is not enough: it is the mix of habitat which is also important.
