Transportation

Southlands will provide a range of mobility choices that enable residents to dramatically reduce their dependency on conventional automobiles while being able to conduct local daily activities conveniently, comfortably, reliably and cost efficiently.

A new neighbourhood brings more vehicles to any larger community. Knowing this, the working development plan for Southlands focuses on how to reduce single-occupant vehicle use, how to encourage walking and cycling and how to offer alternative transportation choices for all Tsawwassen residents.

Southlands is designed to encourage transit usage, thereby attracting improved public transit service to Tsawwassen. This should include improved frequency of existing TransLink bus service, and more convenient and increased routes in Tsawwassen. A mobility hub concept will combine a transit hub with access to a fleet of co-op vehicles as part of the Market Square.
